Our Mini MicroFilter Assemblies effectively filter along capillary tubing flow paths with internal volumes low enough to ensure acceptable chromatographic results – even at nanoliter flow rates! We achieve this by using replaceable filter capsules – some versions with a thin, stainless steel micro screen (.25mm thick x 1mm diameter) and others with a miniscule sintered stainless steel or titanium frit disc (.25mm thick x .5mm diameter). These encapsulated filters boasts internal volumes as low as 85nL with the micro-screen and 10nL with the frit disc option.

Choose from 1um and 2um porosities. The micro-screen filter capsules have separate versions for direct connecting 360um and 1/32" (790um) ODs as well as various other capillary ODs in combination with our MicroTight® Tubing Sleeves. The frit-disc filter capsules (NanoFilters) are designed specifically to direct connect 360um or 1/32" OD tubing. We also offer conductive versions (M-534, M-535) with stainless steel housing to allow application of voltage to the fluid path, as in electrospray applications.

Note: MicroFilters requiring tubing sleeves are pressure rated to 4,000 psi (276 bar). Those that direct connect tubing without sleeves will hold to 5,000 psi (345 bar).

APPLICATION NOTE: The Mini MicroFilter can also be used to pack capillary tubing. Simply position one of these filters on the effluent side of the capillary tubing, then slurry pack the capillary tubing. Once packed, place a filter at the head of the tube. This creates a reliable capillary column, without fusing the silica to make frits or pressing filter paper inside the capillary tube.
