Tefzel® Tubing
• Excellent solvent resistance
• More durable and less gas permeable than PTFE, FEP and PFA
• Operating temperatures up to 80 °C
• Available in a variety of IDs and lengths
Upchurch Scientific® Tefzel (ETFE) tubing is chemically inert and suitable for higher pressure applications (when using aqueous mobile phases) than PTFE, FEP and PFA. Additionally, because Tefzel is more rigid than PTFE, FEP and PFA, this tubing better resists inner diameter collapse.
This tubing is extruded in-house at our Oak Harbor facilities, and as such we are able to ensure quality and carefully monitor tolerances. Typical pressure ratings and size tolerances for our tubing are as follows:
•1/16" OD tubing holds from 500 psi (34 bar) to 4,000 psi (276 bar), depending upon the inner diameter; inner and outer diameter tolerances are ±.001" (except for .040” ID, where the tolerances are ±.002"
•1/8" OD tubing holds from 500 psi (34 bar) to 1,000 psi (69 bar), depending upon the inner diameter; inner and outer diameter tolerances are ±.003"
•1/4" OD FEP Tubing holds to 250 psi (17 bar); inner and outer diameter tolerances are ±.004"
NOTE: Due to swelling effects with some amines and inorganic acids, the pressure rating on Tefzel tubing when using these types of solutions is decreased.
The refractive index is 1.400.
